Surviving beautifully!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. I invite you to join me through the writing and publication process. I've started this blog to serve as a platform to the memoir I feel I must write. On April 15, 1998, while working as a machine tender my hair was caught in the drive shaft roller of the machine. I pulled myself out, but unfortunately I was scalped. I will never forget that day and I have suffered a great deal over the years, but I have tremendously grown as a person and I am simply content with being known as the chick with the Nike hat.

Most importantly, I am a Mommy of two seven year olds that saved me from myself and have made my life so much brighter. I am my Daddy's daughter, he is and always has been the rock in my life. He instilled in me to never give up, no matter what. Being all of those things have allowed me to experience great joy, even in the darkest of times.

I have written on my memoir over the years and have found every excuse not to finish it. When really it's the fear of the unknown, it's the fear of exposing my inner most thoughts, and feelings to the world. In the past, I have stopped writing because my emotions were too strong and raw for me to handle, but I have come to realize that I am the only one that can give my accident a positive purpose. It is my responsibility to help people with my story and to let them know it will be okay. I want everyone to know that we all can rise above the adversities that life throws at us and survive beautifully!

I invite you to leave your questions, feelings, and thoughts. In doing so you will become a vital part of this process. I hope to hear from you soon.

Your blog was very touching to me. I commend you for your willingness to share your story and sharing it with the hope of helping others. This speaks volumes to your nature as a strong, compassionate person. I find that in our world that to many people look to the outside of a person to define them. I would like to know how you define beauty?

To say I am proud to be your friend would be a gross understatment. I truly believe it was your destiny to help people. You bring your light to an otherwise dark world. I am so excited and honored to be just a little part of this momentous moment in your life. You inspire me to be a better mother, daughter and friend. Your beautiful spirit and strength need to be shared with the world, and I can't wait for that to happen.
